Step 1 of 6
Write the problem in one sentence
Do this
Write one sentence that says who has the problem, what goes wrong for them today, and what should be true once it is fixed. Read it out loud to someone outside the project.
You are done when…
That person can say the problem back in their own words, and you both agree it is the right one.
A common mistake
Writing the answer instead of the problem, such as "we need an app". An answer in the first sentence closes off better options.

Why we do it this way
Why the steps go in this order.
Steps 1 and 2
Words come before pictures.
We write the problem and the people first, so every screen answers a real question.
Steps 3 and 4
Pictures come before numbers.
A rough sketch and a list of connections show what is really inside the project before anyone guesses a time.
Steps 5 and 6
A range, and a clear ask.
We cut version one down first. Then we give a time range and say what we need from you, so the plan is one you can keep.
Rather not scope it alone?
Tell us what you want to build in a sentence. You get a written plan with scope, timeline and quote, at no cost until you agree.
